Therapy with Children
(ages 5 and up)
In child therapy, I blend the science of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based techniques with the magic of play, creating a unique space where healing unfolds naturally. Together, we explore how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are linked and how small shifts can create powerful change. Whether struggling with big feelings, challenging behavior, or overwhelming life experiences, I work alongside caregivers to plant and nurture new tools for emotional growth, helping young minds develop resilient roots and reclaim their sense of agency and empowerment.
Through our work together, children learn to identify emotions and thought patterns - transforming abstract concepts into tangible understanding. A worried thought becomes a worry monster that can be tamed; difficult feelings become colors that can be understood and managed. With caregivers as essential partners, these therapeutic tools extend beyond our sessions, becoming practical strategies for daily life. Depending upon specific concerns and developmental age of the child, therapy sessions may involve a combination of child-only, child-and-caregiver, and caregiver-only sessions.
I tailor my approach to meet the unique cognitive, emotional, and sensory needs of neurodiverse children. This may include adapting traditional techniques to align with pattern-based thinking styles, or creating sensory-mindful spaces that allow for authentic self-expression.
